THERAPIST NOTES: The One About Being Strong

When you’re praised for always being strong, it becomes a quiet pressure.
You start to believe that’s who you have to be. The one who gets on with it. The one who holds everyone together. The one who never crumbles.
Sometimes that’s what others expect. But more often, it’s a role we place on ourselves.
We’re so used to being reliable, capable, “fine” that we forget we’re allowed to not be okay.
This is a note I wrote to myself. And maybe, just maybe, it’s a note you need too.

There’s nothing wrong with being strong. But you’re allowed to have moments where you’re soft. Where you’re human. Where you don’t have it all figured out. Where you can ask for help and you don’t have to earn support. You’re allowed to be held, too.
